To study the role of blood-sucking insects in the spread of arbovirus infections of farm animals in
the southern regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 3281 samples of 9 species of adult ticks of the family
Ixodidae and ticks of the family Argasidae: Alveonasus lahorensis, Argas persicus, collected from farm
animals and their holding places were examined in 2024.
As a result of monitoring studies, 382 (11.7%) ticks from Zhambyl oblast, 2690 (81.9%) ticks from
Turkestan oblast, 209 (6.4%) ticks from Kyzylorda oblast were collected. All tick samples were analyzed
for the presence of CCHL RNA by OT-PCR.
According to the results of the conducted research by PCR method, RNA of CCHL virus was
detected in 4 samples of ticks of Ixodidae family: Dermacentor marginatus (13.9%), from Kazybek
village, Maktaral district, Dermacentor pictus (21.05%), from Dostyk village, Shardara district, Shardara
region, and Dermacentor pictus (21.05%), from Dostyk village, Shardara region. Dostyk village, Shardara
district, Hyalomma anatolicum (14.5%) from Bayyr village, Arys district, Hyalomma scupense (4.56%)
from Tegishil village, Baidibek district, Turkestan oblast.Infection of Dermacentor pictus tick with CCHL
virus was detected for the first time in Kazakhstan.
