ECOLOGICAL VARIETY TESTS OF GRAIN SORGHUM VARIETIES, SORGHUM-SUDAN HYBRIDS IN THE CONDITIONS OF THE TURKESTAN REGION

Аннотация

The priority direction of the economy of Kazakhstan is animal husbandry. In order to fully meet domestic needs for livestock products and increase the export potential of Kazakhstan - to solve the problems set by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan - the creation of a sustainable forage base is of paramount importance. The role of annual grasses and sorghum crops as a source of concentrated and green fodder, dry hay is invaluable and solves the problem of increasing feed for the growing needs of livestock. Increasing the yield of forage grasses due to the creation of productive varieties with high quality grain and green mass contributes to an increase in livestock production, as well as its processing for technical purposes. In this regard, annual grasses are noted as priority crops in the agricultural science development program. The purpose of the study is ecological variety testing of new varieties of grain sorghum and sorghum-sudan hybrids with elements of agricultural technology in the conditions of the south of Kazakhstan. The experimental work was carried out in 2024 in the experimental plots of the Georgievsk State Variety Testing Institution, the Sairam State Variety Testing Institution and the Turkestan State Variety Testing Institution, which belong to the Turkestan soil province and are located in different agroclimatic regions. This work presented the results of variety testing in the experimental plots of the Turkestan State Variety Testing Institution. The objectives of the study included: determining the optimal plant density, tillering coefficient, flowering time and green mass yield of new varieties of grain sorghum; determining the optimal seeding rate, analyzing the nutritional value and studying the dynamics of green mass yield formation of new sorghum-sudan hybrids.
