In conditions of intensive poultry farming, the reproductive health of ducks is a key factor determining the efficiency of reproduction and the economic sustainability of farms. The present study is aimed at a comparative assessment of the morphological and biochemical parameters of the blood of ducks with diseases of the reproductive system compared with clinically healthy individuals. The work was carried out on ducks aged 9-11 months, divided into two groups of 50 animals: control (healthy) and experimental (with diagnosed reproductive disorders).
Morphological analysis of blood showed that in sick ducks there is a decrease in the number of red blood cells, hemoglobin and hematocrit, which indicates the development of hypochromic anemia. Signs of an inflammatory reaction were noted — leukocytosis, heterophilia and lymphopenia, accompanied by an increase in the index of the ratio of heterophiles to lymphocytes (H/L), which indicates chronic stress and immune dysfunction. Cytological analysis revealed poikilocytosis, anisocytosis, and toxic changes in heterophiles characteristic of infectious and inflammatory processes.
The biochemical profile of the blood of ducks with pathologies of the reproductive system reflected pronounced metabolic disorders. A decrease in total protein, albumins, calcium and phosphorus was recorded with a simultaneous increase in bilirubin, transaminase activity (ALT, AST), alkaline phosphatase and γ-glutamyltranspeptidase. Elevated levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, LDH, and amylase indicate impaired lipid metabolism, hepatodystrophy, and a systemic inflammatory response.
Thus, in ducks with impaired reproductive function, anemia, inflammatory reaction, hypoproteinemia, hypocalcemia and hyperlipidemia were detected, reflecting impaired homeostasis and metabolic stress. The combination of morphological and biochemical changes can be considered as a diagnostic complex for early detection of reproductive pathologies and monitoring of the physiological state of waterfowl.
